Janiel D. Smalls joined Anselmi Mierzejewski Ruth & Sowle P.C. in 2018. Since joining the firm, Ms. Smalls has focused on first and third party litigation.

Ms. Smalls attended Michigan State University; however, graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2003. She obtained her Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2012.

During law school, Ms. Smalls interned for Judge George Chatman in 36th District Court and various entities providing legal services to the indigent and senior citizens.

After law school, Ms. Smalls practiced primarily in the areas of contract law, probate litigation, juvenile criminal defense, family law and child abuse and neglect while continuing to provide pro-bono legal services to the disenfranchised and senior communities.

Ms. Smalls is licensed to practice law in Michigan.
